Construction Technology is the specialized branch of Civil engineering. It is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings. Construction engineering takes place on all levels: in the public sector from municipal through to state & central government levels, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.

Construction engineers find jobs in public works departments, railways, private construction companies, water-supply companies, petro-chemical companies, highway authorities. Civil engineers can also have private consultancy in building design and construction.
